PGA Junior League Golf is a fun, social and inclusive opportunity for boys and girls ages 13 and under to learn and enjoy the game of golf. Much like other recreational league sports, participants wear numbered jerseys and play on teams with their friends. Each team is captained by a PGA or LPGA Professional, who serves as the coach and is at the forefront of creating a welcoming environment for all to enjoy the game. PGA Junior League Golf utilizes a popular scramble format that creates a nurturing environment for learning and development – both on and off cour
The Basics
At its core, PGA Junior League Golf is a group of local golf teams who play a series of games against each other, utilizing a nurturing and social scramble format. The program is available to boys and girls, 13 and under, of all abilities. PGA and LPGA Professionals exclusively serve as Captains and are responsible for creating a welcoming environment for all that encourages skill and character development. PGA Junior League Golf is open to any child 13 & under. The recommended minimum age is 9, however many Captains permit younger players to participate. A player cannot be 14 years of age prior to August 1st (which coincides with the end of the regular season) of the year in which he participates. For example, for the 2016 season no participant who turns 14 before August 1st, 2016 will be eligible to participate.
Boys & Girls-
PGA Junior League Golf is open to both boys and girls. Due to the program’s nurturing scramble format, all teammates can work together and contribute to winning their game, regardless of gender. Boys and girls of similar ability play and compete together in any match pairing (boy-and-girl, girl-and-girl, boy-and-boy). There are no separate divisions or tee boxes and yardages to play from.
All Abilities-
PGA Junior League Golf is open to youth of any ability. Whether you’re a seasoned vet or a new beginner, the program’s scramble format creates opportunities to both demonstrate your ability and learn from your peers at its core, PGA Junior League Golf is recreational and developmental in nature. PGA and LPGA Professionals, who serve exclusively as team Captains, are committed to creating a welcoming experience for all players and their families. Additionally, PGA and LPGA Professionals are uniquely positioned to help young golfers develop their playing ability to whichever extent they desire.
Format & Rules-
PGA Junior League Golf is all about the recreational and developmental nature of regular season matches, held between April 1 and July 31! During the course of one game, teams play four 9-hole matches in a popular two-person scramble format, reinforcing the team concept and creating a nurturing environment for learning the game. Coaches can also substitute players every three holes, so that all of the golfers on each team can participate.
The PGA of America has opened the registration for the Fall PGA Junior League Season! An opportunity to play against other courses that weren’t available in the Summer!
